Our love for the sea is a common bond we all agree, good voyage to you with gods speed, make port when you can and throw a line, and be sure when you do, we will be there to tie the bow line.

A tragic loss to Nicki and the Passey family. In my contact with Spike I saw a devoted father and man happy to share his great sailing knowledge and skills.

Whenever you came home from a regatta you couldn't wait to start working on the house.
At the crack of dawn you would borrow my truck and trailer and the minute you got behind the wheel of my truck you thought you were "Bob the Builder".
We will finish the deck at the house and hope it will be up to your standard.

Nick I know I don't need to tell you that Shane and I will be there for you, Mimes and Foxy whenever you need us. I love you all dearly and will particularly miss Pete's smile and cheekiness especially on Christmas Day when he sits there gives us and the rest of the family no end of stick. He is funny and always smiling when I see him and that is how I will always remember him. He shall be greatly missed by us all. Our love and support is with you always.

When I first met you last year on the delivery, I couldn't believe my luck that I was going to be sailing next to someone who had accomplished so much in the yachting world! All the stories you shared with me when we were on watch together about the Volvo ocean race and all the yachting adventures you had been apart of, will keep me inspired forever.

Being fortunate enough to sail with you on the Etchell a few weekends ago was a memorable experience and learnt so much from those two days of sailing, even if we had a little ‘Dust’ on Sunday after you and Aidz were reminiscing over your old photo albums the night before!

To Nicki, Jemima and Foxy and all the family, thoughts are with you at this time.

Spikey you are my sporting idol and I hope that one day I can compete in some of the yachting adventures that you have been a part of, and just maybe one day get an opportunity to compete in the Volvo ocean race.

I remember working 26 years ago at Anchor Marine in Sandringham and meeting Pete ( at the time he was known as Boy B through his North Sails days). He was always so friendly and always up for a chat. A gentleman that will never be forgotten. Smooth Sailing

nicky and the kids, what a great man your husband and father was, i sailed with him a good few times, and he always made me laugh!!! we have just bought Audi, and it will be sailed with some great memories and am sure more stories!... i remember him carrying me out of a resturant in genoa once but i was still in my seat!! all the best from me and the team of the 52..god bless.

I was lucky to have called Spike a friend and the pleasure of sailing with him. He was always the one to stay late and help and the first to bring his mischevious smile to lighten up the mood on deck or on shore. Being from the USA, Spike and I always had a running debate about Southern Hemisphere sailing and the "great" race. Every race we did and all the time spent was great and I learned from him. We laughed and I will miss him.

It will never be the same without Spike on the end of the sheet, outside the restaurant/bar having a smoke or later with a bloody nose after having an altercation with a foreigner (anyone not from Melbourne). An amazing person who was always positive during the worst of circumstances. Everyone who knew him will never forget him.

I remember playing an America's Cup game together when we were kids. Written in GW Basic and running way to fast on my beast of a 286, you persisted and more times than not got that little white triangle of yours over the line first. You actually ended up in the America's Cup and so much more. Truly an inspiration Cuz.
